This was the first version of the Africans Within the Americas, a book self-published in 2007, showcasing the daily lives of descendants from the Trans-Atlantic slave trade in ten countries. (out of print)

Beautiful Faces of Columbia

2023

Caras lindas de Colombia (Beautiful faces of Colombia) is an indie authored bilingual book, sequel to Africans Within the Americas, but it concentrates on the African descendant population in Colombia, South America, which is the third largest in the Americas. It also won First Place at North Street Book Prize in the Art Book category in 2023.

Africans within the Americas Revision

2010

The revised edition of Africans Within the Americas, was self-published in 2010, but includes two additional countries making a total of twelve. The cover is also different from the first version. It shows an Adinkra symbol of Sankofa which means “To go back and take.” It is from the Twi language of Ghana, West Africa.

Urban Waters

Urban Waters, self-published in 2010, blends the lyrical poetry of New Orleans based singer/songwriter Marilee Southworth (deceased) and Michael Bracey’s black and white photography of urbanites cooling off in unplugged fire hydrants or water parks.
